King Crab Boil

Watch out, ladies—The Crabber is coming to King’s Landing.  Now that Jorah is toast, I can say confidently that Davos is the best voice in all of Westeros.  I don’t think he’s making it through tonight, however.

I didn’t care much that Dany’s hype girl was beheaded, and I’ve never gotten much out of Missandei’s character.  But, I’m going to say that it’s not good that all Dany’s lifelines to humanity are getting axed: we’re down a Jorah, 2 dragons, and a personal assistant / best friend?  Things are not boding well for her.

I’ve been a defender of Game of Thrones all of season 8 (and 7. And 6), but objectively, last night’s episode was kind of terrible. Dany’s mad as hell, though, and she’s about to boil Euron’s fleet.  Whoever was all about the Brienne / Jamie hookup, I will never understand you.  It was really awkward / hard to watch, and this is coming from who has been watching a show about incest for like 8 years.

I’m really interested in what’s going to happen with the Golden Company. They used to be Lannisters, right? I’d be really interested if they turned on Cersei, etc. but that would be more too complicated to explain.  Once again, though.  Why isn’t anyone listening to Sansa?  Y’all needed to rest and take a break, and instead, you walked right into a trap.  Frustrating.

This week, we’re back at King’s landing, there’s going to be a fight for King (or Queen) of the Iron Throne.  Seems appropriate that we have a King Crab boil.  I’m going to throw in golden potatoes for the Golden Company, corn for last night’s episode, shrimp for Kit Harrington, and onions for the Onion Knight.  And some sausage for Theon.

  • 1 lb. Shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 1 lb. potatoes, sliced
  • 3 ears of corn, sliced in half
  • 2 lemons, halved, plus more for serving

  • Vegetable stock (3 boxes plus more water).
  • Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1 head garlic
  • Green onions (whole)

Directions:  Heat a big stock pot of vegetable stock / water to boil.  Add 2 tbsp or so of Old Bay seasoning.  Add potatoes, corn, garlic, sausage, and onion.  Cook for 25 minutes

Add King Crab.  Cook for 5 minutes.  Add shrimp–cook for 2 more.  Carefully pour out water.

Serve with lemon and melted butter.

It’s Mother’s Day today.  Will GOT kill off Dany’s last dragon tonight?  So dark, HBO.

Only one episode left!  P. sad about it, but I think it’s time.  Hope that tonight wraps up some story lines and a dragon bites Euron’s face off.
