Burnt Ends & Garlicky Swiss Charred

I don’t know how Tyrian makes it out of this week’s episode alive, especially with Varys gone.  (Question here: was Varys and that little girl trying to poison Dany’s food?  Adam said he read that somewhere, but I don’t buy it).  In any case, Tyrian probably feels pretty dumb right now.

Dany’s descent into madness sure was swift, and when she finds out that Tyrian tried to help Cersei and Jamie escape, she’s gonna go nuts.  I was worried that the short season would make her character arc feel rushed, and it kind of did.  Overall, last week’s episode was p. good, albeit there were parts that I didn’t like (i.e. Clegane Bowl was way too heavy-handed).  I love Arya and The Hound together, and that’s a dynamic I’ll really miss.

I’m nervous about tonight.  I need Sansa to live and rule over everyone, but I kind of think that the moment that makes Jon wake up will be Dany killing Sansa.  Queen Sansa forever.

Something that was halfway confirmed last episode: The Mad King was likely a green seer, and his “Burn them All” was him seeing Dany torch King’s Landing.  It needs some tying together, and we really need to hear from Bran this episode.

Oh my God.  What if this week Bran was checking in on Hot Pie?

Last week was all about burning and tonight is all about ends, so I’m going to make some Burnt Ends tonight with Swiss Chard.  Charred.

Burnt Ends

**It’s been raining for basically five days straight, and I don’t own a smoker.  I was going to work something out, but I went to Smoky D’s instead.  It was just fine.

Garlicky Swiss Charred

  • Swiss chard, cleaned, and de-stalked
  • Garlic
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Red Pepper Flakes*

Heat oil in a pan with garlic.  Add Swiss Chard until wilted.  Season with salt and red pepper flakes, to taste.  Serve up!

There’s a lot of expectations for tonight! I hope it’s a fun watch, and I hope the Starks hang on to Winterfell.  Most importantly, I hope that Brienne’s heart is doing okay.
